Eschers misfortunes continue

House Escher, having long ran afoul of the Veritas Corporation, have once again fallen victim for the Corporations penchant for petty vendetta's. It appears that the Veritas Corporation are determined to ape their corpulent founder who was renowned for his petty vindictiveness. In their latest display against the unfairly maligned House, Veritas' upper management placed a bounty on Siriana Litelif and her Keening Jinx syndicate. Catching Siriana late night exiting the Maglev returning from Stocksdale, local witnesses report an ambush by Orlock gangs. Mag lev workers informed“Griff Biffson”, an Orlock Racketeer of Keening Jinx arrival. Siriana and her compatriots where en route to their hab zone when they were attacked. Severely outnumbered and outgunned, Sirianna was reportedly shot 15 times by the Orlock, sending a bloody message to the House that their continued resistance against Corporate greed will not be tolerated.
Griff Biffson

It would be easy to point the blame at Griff Biffson, the Lev workers, even House Orlock, but none of these are the culprits. Griff is caught in a cycle of violence that never ends for the people of Dirtside, one where ones only choice is to dance to Veritas' tune. The Lev Workers are not paid a wage that is fair or decent, or paid unsocial working hours. They are not even given paid leave for Medicae or official holidays such as Ascension day, so how can workers afford not to take bribes? No the blame lies squarely on Veritas Corporation and those that allow greed to prosper unopposed. Within the Federacy, the depredations of cannibalistic corporations has long been eradicated, boulevards and roadways are patrolled by well equipped and trained officers, dedicated to peace and security, not brute squads perpetuating a broken system. The evils of Veritas would never be allowed to prosper only light minutes away from Farport, so why here? I am sure Siriana's family wished Federacy officers were on patrol that fateful night.

There is a better way.
